The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have handed keys to the five-bedroom home in Windsor over to Prince Harry’s pregnant cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank. Insiders say Meghan and Harry shipped their belongings off to California, where they are currently living with their son Archie Harrison, after “removal vans pitched up in the dead of night and cleared out the cottage”.
Harry and Meghan moved to LA following their sensational exit from the Royal Family but promised they would work between both the US and UK.
However, a source said this was a major sign the couple could go back on this promise.
The insider said: “Emptying their home and handing over the keys is a pretty strong sign Harry and Meghan have no plans to return.
“It appears they are tying up loose ends as they plan to extend their stay in the US perhaps permanently.”
But another source insisted the pair would retain the £11million cottage as their residence in Britain and will share it with Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank when they visit the UK.
Princess Eugenie and her husband are said to be “delighted” with Frogmore Cottage, where they plan to bring up their newborn, and moved in two weeks ago.

7.54am update: Prince Harry source speaks out over BBC inquiry
The Duke of Sussex views the inquiry into the BBC Panorama controversy surrounding the interview with his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, as a “drive for truth”, it has been claimed.
It is believed that Harry will not comment publicly on the investigation into Martin Bashir’s 1995 interview, but sources close to him have told The Daily Telegraph that he is getting regular updates on what is happening and supports the move.
Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, stepped away from royal duties and moved to the US earlier this year.
A source told the Telegraph: “You do not need a public statement to imagine how he (Harry) is feeling privately, people know how much his mother means to him.
“He has bravely spoken out in the past about loss and grief, and the immense impact it has had on him.”
The source also claimed the inquiry was being used to “drive a wedge” between Harry and his older brother William amid speculation their relationship may have become strained.
The insider added: “Sadly, some people are not just seeing this as a drive for truth, but also trying to use this as an opportunity to try to drive a wedge between the brothers.”
