The official Twitter account of the Royal Family shared a picture of the Duke of Gloucester inside his home on the Kensington Palace grounds. The photo shows Prince Richard, the Queen’s cousin, on a phone call with Major General Alan Hawley from the Royal Army Medical Corps.

The caption of the post read: “The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, held a telephone meeting with Major General Alan Hawley from the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) this morning.

“The Duke received an update on the continued involvement of the @ArmyMedServices in the frontline COVID response.”

The prince appeared to be sat in his study while he made the royal phone call.

Behind the Duke, fans can see an impressive bookcase filled will a variety of multi-volume works including The Book of Kells.

Prince Richard and his wife, the Duchess of Gloucester, live on the Kensington Palace grounds in the Old Stables.

The royal couple previously lived in Apartment 1 at Kensington Palace before they downsized in 2019.

The Duke and Duchess have three children – Alexander Windsor, Earl of Ulster, Lady Davina Windsor and Lady Rose Gilman.

But the royal children have all grown up which could explain the couple’s downsizing.

Apartment 1A was previously the home of the Queen’s sister Princess Margaret.

It is a four-storey apartment with 20 rooms including five receptions, three main bedrooms and nurseries.

Coronavirus restrictions have forced the Royal Family to conduct some of their engagements via video or phone calls.

It has given royal fans rare glimpses into the lives of members of the Royal Family and their residencies.

During the first lockdown, the Duchess of Cambridge showed off her own book collection inside Kensington Palace.

Kate was pictured lending support to a Public Health England initiative in March to boost the nation’s mental health during the pandemic.

She delighted fans with her collection of Penguin Clothbound Classics which were each individually designed by Corlie Bickford-Smith.

Kate’s books were perfectly arranged on her desk in one of Kensington Palace’s studies.

The books in the Duchess’ collection included A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings, Sense and Sensibility, Picture of Dorian Grey, The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Odyssey.

In the same photo, Kate can be seen wearing the famous dusty pink M&S suit she has styled for several royal engagements.
