Royal blogger Gert’s Royals has listed the most liked Instagram posts by members of the Royal Family in 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s photo on their Kensington Palace account of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis posing with William to mark his 38th birthday in June came first with a staggering 2.4 million likes.

In the adorable picture, William is sitting on a swing with little Louis on his lap while Charlotte and George stand up.

The snap was taken at the Cambridges’ Anmer Hall residence in Norfolk.

The second most popular Instagram post was a video of George, Charlotte and Louis taking part in Clap for our Carers in March with 2 million likes.

The heartwarming clip shows the Cambridge children enthusiastically clapping for the NHS.

The third most popular Instagram post was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s shock announcement in January on their Sussex Royal account – which they no longer use – revealing plans to step back as senior royals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell post racked up 1.9 million likes.

They said: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.

The monarch released the statement following a crisis summit at Sandringham with Prince Charles, William and Harry to discuss the Sussexes’ future roles.

The next most popular Instagram post is another of William and Kate’s.

The Cambridges shared a series of pictures of Louis to mark his second birthday in April.

A snap of the young royal painting rainbows for the NHS and holding his messy hands to the camera was liked 1.6 million times.

Also among the most popular posts on Instagram is a picture from William and Kate’s royal wedding shared for their ninth wedding anniversary in April, which amassed 1.5 million likes.

They wrote: “Nine years ago today – thank you for all your lovely messages on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary!”
