Last month it emerged Princess Eugenie, 30, and Jack Brooksbank, 34, had moved into Frogmore Cottage, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s UK base. The property is believed to be “on loan” to the royal couple, who are expecting their first child early next year, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex build their new lives in the US.
It has been claimed Eugenie and her husband are not paying any rent to the Sussexes while they stay at Frogmore, which could be for quite some while.
Speaking on the Royally Obsessed podcast, royal commentators Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie said they believe Eugenie is staying at Frogmore rent-free.
Ms Fiorito said: “It feels weird to me because they only just paid it off.”
Ms Bowie added: “I know but on the flip side if it is vacant, wouldn’t you rather have someone looking after it?
“I don’t think that they’re paying rent which is interesting.
“I’ve seen a couple of reports of that.
“I think where it seems logical for me, the pandemic must have thrown such a wrench into things.
“Especially when you’re about to welcome a baby.

“Or it could be ‘please pay us whatever pounds per month’.
“So this arrangement is going to be quite interesting.”
Meghan and Harry moved to the US earlier this year following their decision to step down as senior members of the Royal Family.
In July they purchased a property in Santa Barbara believed to be worth more than $14million (£10.4million).
The mansion features nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and sits within 5.4 acres of land in the Monetecito area.
Montecito is described by one luxury real estate agent as “a paradise for Hollywood stars and the super rich who want to live in splendid isolation”.
