The Grand Tour presenter, 60, suggested Britons should shift their focus away from the US election and instead asks how Sadiq Khan can be removed as Mayor of London. Mr Clarkson’s latest assault on the Labour politician is more reserved than his previous insults, as in the past the former Top Gear host has referred to Mr Khan as “idiotic”, “deranged” and told him to “f**k off”.
Writing to his 7.2million Twitter followers this morning, Mr Clarkson said: “Never mind America. When can we get rid of the tool @SadiqKhan?”
Hundreds of people have responded to his Tweet, with many coming out in support of Mr Clarkson and his criticism of the London Mayor.
One person wrote: “He must go now, he has f****d up London so much it’s going to be one hell of a job to bring it back to it’s former glory.”
A second user fumed: “Not quick enough! He has managed to totally destroy a once great city with all his meddling.”
A third person said: “ASAP.. I really don’t know what else there is to ruin anymore, but he’ll find something.”
Others criticised Mr Khan on his policies regarding cycle lanes and transport, something Mr Clarkson has criticised in recent months.
One person said: “I think we should send Sadiq Khan on Mars and let him make as many cycle lane he wants.”
Another wrote: “The same tool that thought bus lanes with bollards near me was a good idea.

Mr Clarkson has previously criticised the London Mayor for creating cycle lanes across the capital.
He claims the lanes cause congestion and traffic jams in the already busy city.
Earlier this month the Grand Tour presenter posted an image of long queuing traffic to his Instagram account, with the caption: “@mayorofldn This is what your idiotic cycle lanes are creating.
“Just quietly resign. Go away. Open a shop in Harrogate. Be gone.”
In June last year, he simply tweeted: “Sadiq Khan. You’ve f**d London.”
He also wrote: “I’ve examined the number of road works and closures in London at the moment and I’ve decided the mayor must be a halfwit.”
Mr Clarkson also branded the Labour mayor as “deranged” in a video on his YouTube channel, “A Cup of Tea With Clarkson”.
Speaking on the clip, the presenter explains that the Mayor is planning to rip out trees in Holland Park and replace them with a cycle lane.
He then says: “Well he can f**k off, the man’s obviously deranged, you can’t pull trees down so that people can cycle.”
