Emergency services are currently at the scene in the town, with trains unable to stop at the station. Officers were called this evening to reports of an “explosion” in Station Road. They are urging the public to avoid the area.
A Suffolk Police statement said: “Police, firefighters and paramedics are currently at the scene of an incident in Stowmarket.
“Police were called at 8.20pm to reports of an explosion in Station Road, near to the train station.
“At least one person is believed to have suffered serious injuries.
“Members of the public are urged to keep clear of the area.”
National Rail Enquiries tweeted: “Trains are unable to call at #Stowmarket due to the emergency services dealing with an incident.
“This is expected until the end of the day.”
