Tier 6 lockdown restrictions will likely impact millions of people around the country. Speculation about tighter rules comes as the highest number of daily deaths is reported since the pandemic began and Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears before the Commons Liaison Committee to answer MPs questions about the Government’s coronavirus response. Express.co.uk has analysed which areas of England are most likely to be Tier 6 according to the Covid ZOE Covid Symptom Study app.
Today a further 1,564 deaths were confirmed within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.
This is the highest number of UK deaths reported on a single day since the outbreak began.
Previously, the highest number was reported on Friday, January 8, with 1,325 deaths reported.
This brings the coronavirus death toll to 84,767 in total.

The following areas show an increase in current prevalence rates of the virus over the past seven days to January 13 and therefore are potentially at risk of being moved into Tier 6:
- Liverpool City Region – prevalence rate of 1,432 per 100,000 population
- Lancashire, Blackpool, and Blackburn with Darwen – prevalence rate of 1,002 per 100,000 population
- Warrington and Cheshire – prevalence rate of 749 per 100,000 population
- Greater Manchester – prevalence rate of 733 per 100,000 population
- North East (LA7) – prevalence rate of 798 per 100,000 population
- The Humber – prevalence rate of 859 per 100,000 population
- South Yorkshire – prevalence rate of 694 per 100,000 population
- Birmingham and Black Country – prevalence rate of 1,183 per 100,000 population
- Suffolk – prevalence rate of 1,116 per 100,000 population
- East and West Sussex, and Brighton and Hove – prevalence rate of 1,322 per 100,000 population
- Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole – prevalence rate of 1,033 per 100,000 population
- Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset – prevalence rate of 836 per 100,000 population
- Gloucestershire – prevalence rate of 775 per 100,000 population
- Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset – prevalence rate of 723 per 100,000 population
- Devon – prevalence rate of 438 per 100,000 population

The following areas have shown a steady rate of prevalence of the virus in the past week which means it is possible they could also see a strengthening of restrictions in a bid to reduce the spread of coronavirus:
