He said: “I really do urge people, when you get notification, when you get a message from the NHS, from your doctor, saying you’re eligible for a vaccine, please take it.”
People will be contacted by the NHS or their doctor about receiving a vaccine, and the NHS is currently urging people to wait to be contacted and told which vaccination centre to attend.
The NHS website currently states: “The NHS will let you know when it’s your turn to have the vaccine. It’s important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then.”
Sir Simon Stevens said today the “bulk” of the vaccinations would be carried out at GP surgeries and pharmacies, but that the number of hospital hubs and large-scale vaccination centres were also being increased.
