When travel agent Lucie Colton found out she had won a share of £270,000 on People’s Postcode Lottery she couldn’t wait to tell her husband.

Of course, it’s the natural reaction to reach out to your nearest and dearest when you receive such incredible news.

But it wasn’t quite as easy for 40-year-old Lucy (pictured above), who picked up a tidy £30,000 share of the jackpot when nine neighbours on her street in Stoke won big.

That’s because her other half works away from home and isn’t very easy to reach.

Reacting to the life-changing win, Lucie said: “I can’t wait to tell my husband. He works away so I’ll need to wait until he’s on a break and call him. He won’t believe me!

“Oh my God. £30,000! Have you definitely got the right person?! My heart feels like it’s beating out of my chest. Things like this just don’t happen to me… ever!”

Lucie plans to use the money to buy a house, but also splash out on a holiday.

Mum-of-two Alex Mayer (below) was another excited £30,000 winner in the ST1 2LT postcode.

The 32-year-old said: “Thank you thank you thank you! I’m overwhelmed I don’t know what to say. I’ve never won anything.

“I’ve just moved so I need do some house improvements. I’m also on maternity leave so I’ll be buying some baby stuff. George is only seven months old, he’s teething just now.”

Delivery driver John Adamson (below), pulled over in his van to take his £30,000 video call.

When he saw the cheque, the 50-year-old said: “No! No way! That is fantastic. That has just sorted my life out. I was going to be happy with a couple of quid! This is going to make everyone a lot happier in my postcode.”

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Danyl Johnson, broke the good news to all of the winners via Zoom. He said: “It was great to chat to so many winners and find out how they will be treating themselves with an extra £30,000. A huge congratulations to all of them.”

People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day.

People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £600 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.

This draw was promoted on behalf of ActionAid. Players have raised over £9.7 million for the charity, enabling it to work in over 45 countries to help change the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children and women.
