Fortel creates Mobile Safety app BeSafe to help construction workers stay safe
PoliticMag Press Release : November 01, 2020
According to HSE’s Construction Statistics in the UK, there were an estimated 79,000 work-related ill health cases (both new and long-standing) in 2019 alone. On average, there have also been 36 annual fatalities since 2014, and 54,000 non-fatal injuries to construction workers each year.
With Health, Safety, and Wellbeing being at the forefront of Fortel’s company commitments and values, Fortel is proud to have invested in combating these figures by creating a mobile app and online log to help construction workers stay safe on site.
The Fortel ‘BeSafe’ app initiates a two way dialogue between construction workers and key responsible managers, allowing workers to quickly and easily raise health and safety concerns by reporting accidents and near misses through the app/online.
Facilitating this line of communication allows managers to keep an official record of every incident and improve working conditions across every site. Employees are also encouraged to report examples of good practice, as a way to celebrate achievements and help maintain wellbeing across all sites and office environments.
The use of the BeSafe app is considered best practice by many first tier contractors due to how it is easily accessible, user friendly and allows employees to remain completely anonymous if they prefer to raise issues discreetly.
A key value here at Fortel is Progress, and we are committed to making only positive and progressive contributions to our industry. One of the ways we ensure that is by keeping up with the latest technology and utilising it to benefit businesses across the whole construction industry.
Innovations like the BeSafe app are a great example of our ongoing work to improve health and wellbeing in construction, and we view this success as a great step forward in the industry.
