KATE Middleton and Prince William have revealed Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are missing their “much loved” great-grandfather in heartwarming thank you cards to royal fans.
The Instagram account Miss Royal Reply shared photos of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official thank you cards which were posted to fans who sent letters of condolences following Prince Philip’s death last month.
For the front of the card, the royal couple – who recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary – chose a photo of the late Duke of Edinburgh with his military medals on full display.
The back of the card reads: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for your kind words following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh.
“Their Royal Highnesses have been incredibly moved by the many thoughtful messages they have received in recent weeks.”
Giving insight into how the family are coping, the card concludes: “They will all miss their much loved grandfather and great-grandfather but your message has provided great comfort during this difficult time.”
In accordance with social guidelines, Prince Philip’s funeral was attended by just 30 mourners – meaning none of his great-grandchildren were able to say their final farewells at the emotional service.
Last month, The Queen thanked the nation for “support and kindness” following Prince Philip’s death as she spent her first birthday without him.
She said: “I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate.
“While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world.
