A five-year-old girl last seen walking alone at about midnight in a ‘Disney onesie’ has been found safe and well.
Frantic officers made making door-to-door enquiries after the girl was seen reportedly walking on her own in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire Police said they were called at about 11.55pm on Thursday to reports of a girl aged about five walking in the general direction of a crematorium.
Officers described the location in an appeal as being close to Costcutter on Tuxford Road, near Newark Road.
A force drone was deployed and sniffer dogs were out searching.
Police said in a statement this morning: “A girl who matched a description of a reported child alone in the streets overnight has been located safe and well at her home in Boughton.
“A man called the force at around 8.10am this morning after spotting the media appeal overnight following an extensive police search last night.”
Inspector Graham Clarke of Nottinghamshire Police said: “A member of public called the force this morning and has now been visited by officers to confirm that a girl was on her own last night, but did return home shortly after. She is safe and well.
“Reports of this nature is something the force take hugely seriously, as you can see with the amount of resources we had in the area overnight.
“We would like to thank everyone in the community and the local media for their help in sharing our media appeal last night, which has thankfully had a good and safe conclusion.”
